  • In Castro Marim municipality and partially inserted in Sapal de Castro Marim e Vila Real de Santo António Nature Reserve, Quinta da Fornalha (Furnace Farm) develops activities in the fields of Salt and Fruits production in the wake of traditional Algarve culture of agricultural production, but betting on natural production of certified and innovative organic products.

     

    There are 36 hectares of Mediterranean biological horticulture, various gardens with edible plants, experimental organic gardens for own consumption, herbs paths, erosion prevention elements and many dreams to join the party!

     

    It was with great pride, and also courage, that after 200 years of traditional farming and 30 of organic farming, in 2008, we tried a new strategy for Quinta da Fornalha, a forgotten sector, abandoned: the traditional Algarvian agriculture, mainly fruit, and dry cultivations.
    Make it economically viable became a personal challenge. Here we are proud of the past and head held high for the future.


    So we try to get through traditional methods and sustainable management, raw material of high quality. Then the refined and secular flavor of the fruit dry as figs, almonds and olives, join to give new processed products like Figo truffles, Chutney, Carob and almond butter, Flavored olive oil or Fleur du Sel with Thyme 'cabeçudo'.


    The appreciation through new methods of presentation and confection of traditional products is the key to differentiating our farm in the national and global competitive market.
