• This route is entirely within the Nature Reserve and allows you to know the traditional salterns. These are made up of nurseries and small ‘marinhas’, with great diversity in its shape, making them authentic mazes. The water travels a path from the compartmented tanks, from the supply treadmill until the "talhos" (small squares where the salt forms) by heating and evaporating gradually along the route. The salt season begins in the spring with the cleanliness of the ‘marinhas. In mid-June, these are covered with white and the first ‘raz’a is ready to be harvested. This salt is certified and owes its quality to the natural characteristics of the area and the use of traditional techniques. They are also habitat for many waterfowl and wading birds, such as Black-winged Stilt and flamingos. In the salt area, the path has some problems, because there is only signaling at the beginning of the track.
