Abreiro pillory

The Abreiro pillory is probably from the 16th century, when the village had a new charter granted by king Manuel I. However, Abreiro had already received a charter in 1225, by king Sancho II, later confirmed in 1250 by king Afonso III.

 

In 1962, the pillory fell, so it had to be reconstructed. That can be seen especially along the shaft that has different colorations pieces.
