• The chapel of Our Lady of Socorro, from the 16th century, is on the outskirts of the Turcifal parish and the municipality of Torres Vedras, within a fortified settlement of the Iron Age.

It is a chapel on the top of Socorro hills and, according to popular tradition, during the Arab occupation it was a mosque, later converted to Christianity by the first Portuguese king Afonso Henriques.

In the 16th and 17th centuries had works that gave it the present aspect with Manueline characteristics.

On the altar we can see the image of Our Lady of Socorro with Jesus, on the tabernacle, flanked by his parents St. Joachim and St Anne.

The pilgrimage festivities occur on August 5th with mass, procession and non-religious activities.
