Enjoy the magnificent view over the river Zêzere and the slopes of S. Lourenço and Souto do Concelho. You can see abundant gravels that cover the whole slope. These correspond to hornfelses formed by contact metamorphism, in the sediments in the vicinity of granite.

 

Hornfels – rock formed by the contact with a very hot magmatic rock rich in silica. From “horn” because are very hard rocks.

    On N338 follow the signs to Poço do Inferno. The viewpoint is on a curve, on the top of a hill, quite before Poço do Inferno.
