Torre de Menagem was part of Alcáçova (military and residential structure), where lived the Captain-General and the family, still serving barracks for the garrison.
 
The Reception Centre, next to the Tower, has information and is a starting point for visiting the major sites of cultural interest of the Guarda council. Includes an Exhibition of Archaeological Materials.
