'Sé da Guarda' (Guarda Cathedral)

The cathedral imposes in the heart of 'Guarda' (the highest city in Portugal) and is the main symbol of the district. Started in the late fourteenth century, was concluded only in the sixteenth century, and thus it presents Gothic and Manueline features in harmonious balance. In the nineteenth century, the Portuguese architect Rosendo Carvalheira restored some of the Cathedral parts - one of the best revivalist work carried out in the Portugal.

Turn left toward Av. Alexandre Herculano. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Av. Cmte. Salvador Nascimento Continue to Gen. R. Póvoas, this turns right and becomes the Largo Dr. Amândio Paú. Turn left toward R. Torre. Turn left at the 1st intersection to Praça Luís de Camões.
