• Built with granite slabs that form an irregular polygonal chamber with a delineated rectangular entrance, facing north, this megalithic monument is from the Neolithic to Chalcolithic transition (Copper Age). Originally with 7 pillars, today the Dolmen of Pombais has only 5, gently sloping into the chamber and sustaining the covering slab. Intervention works in the recent past greatly deformed the morphology and structure of this ancient tomb, which in the last century served as storage for agricultural materials as well as a shelter for shepherds and cattle. It is a National Monument since 1910.
