• Rio de Onor village is crossed by the border with Spain. On one side, is Rio de Onor, on the other, is Rihonor de Castilla. This community village is one of the best preserved in Montesinho Nature Park, with very well preserved typical shale mountain houses with balconies. The traditional ones have two floors. Upstairs, lives the family and downstairs are the cattle, stored grains and other agricultural products.

This border village is crossed by the Onor River, also known as Contensa, and its river beach invites you for relaxing moments, next to the river crystal clear waters!

From the ancestor traditions of Rio de Onor we highlight the “rionorês”, a dialect that was born from the mixture of Portuguese and Castilian still spoken in the village; and Festa dos Reis (Three Kings day feast - January 6), a rite of passage for the village boys.
