Share Image
The 'Poços' (wells) are small freshwater lagoons on the basis of the frontal dune, resultajntes silting of old 'arms' of Santo André lagoon, constituting important places for feeding, sheltering and birds nesting. The well of Barbarroxa de Baixo is the only one who has some free water surface (except in very dry summers), being the other ones (Barbarossa de Cima and the Barbarossa do Meio) completely covered with marshy vegetation.
Highlighting the rich surrounding flora in endemic plant species especially the Armeria rouyana (endemic of the Portuguese continent), furze (Stauracanthus spectabilis) and thymes (Thymus camphoratus also endemic of the Portuguese continent).
In the fall / winter several species of mushrooms can also be observed, including the Fly Agaric (Amanita muscaria).
