Meadow with daffodils

Species protected by European legislation (Habitats Directive), its harvesting, cutting, uprooting or destruction are prohibited and the visit to the meadow must be done responsibly. Enjoy it from the outside, avoiding the destruction of the plant.
This daffodils (Narcissus pseudonarcissus subsp.nobilis) is a rare herbaceous plant that only appears spontaneously in the north of the Iberian Peninsula. You can see it in this meadow in Sezelhe (Montalegre).
It is a bulbous plant with a two-coloured flower: yellow-gold inside and pale yellow on the outside. It is much larger than the remaining daffodils, that normally also have only one colour. It blooms in March and April, yellowing the hay meadows, its main habitat, so it is therefore recommended to visit this meadow at this time of year.
In the National Park only 5 sites with this narcissus are identified. Its decrease over time is due in large part to the picking of flowers and the bulbs harvest, as well as the destruction of bulbs and other parts of the plant by animals.
