Church of Moimenta

It is a Baroque church whose patron is St. Peter.
The church of Moimenta is an architectural work dating back to the early eighteenth century and for its uniqueness stands out in the context of religious architecture of the Vinhais region. Its artistic and architectural value awarded the church the rating of Public Interest Building.
The church has three naves separated by lancet arches and a stone frontispiece, with a central body topped by a balustrade, located between two bell towers. The building, Mannerist and Baroque, is of great magnificence, the result of deep renovation works carried out in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Inside, emphasis must be put to the carving work, especially noticeable in the chancel.
View from the outside, the Church of Moimenta is highly impressive. The main façade, built with simple lines, contrasts with the magnificence of the Romanesque style square towers and the artistic elegance of the granite balustrade between the blocks of its straight bases. It must be one of the largest temples in the area, probably the largest parish church in the Vinhais area.
