Cávado sandbank viewpoint
Share Image
The Cávado sandbank viewpoint rests on top of a dune with the highest elevation. This spot, combined with a privileged location overlooking the estuary, the sandbank, the beaches and the dunes, rates this place as one of geomorphological interest.
The geomorphological characteristics of the surrounding area make the mouth of the river Cávado in a particularly beautiful and pleasant place. Its long sandbank and estuary with numerous canals are the most relevant aspects, where we can also observe the so-called shoals of “Cavalos de Fão” (quartzitic formation of Ordovician), the sandy beaches, the dune system, the fossil cliffs and the city of Esposende.
This viewpoint is part of the nature trail Between the Cávado and the Atlantic.
