Do not take risks. See and photograph the waterfall from safe locations (with shelter). Also note that these waterfalls are not suitable for bathing.
Arado waterfall is in Vilar da Veiga parish, approximately 13 km away from Caldas do Gerês and 3 km from Ermida. Arado river, a mountain water course from the Arieiro and Teixeira rivers, precipitates on a rocky terrain whose unevenness causes a profile of successive cascades of odd beauty, that end in the Fafião river, in Montalegre county.
In addition to this beautiful landscape, you can see some interesting botanical species near the Arado bridge, namely the Common or Round-leaved Sundew (Drosera rotundifolia) and the Portuguese Butterwort (Pinguicula lusitanica), both small carnivorous plants that appear in wetlands with poor and acid soil.
