Leonte Waterfall
Share Image
In the parish of Vilar da Veiga, the Leonte waterfall is fed by the waters of the Taleira stream, which precipitate from a height of about 19 m. It is worth visiting during rainy periods, when it forms a spectacular wall of water. In addition to the main waterfall, it is possible to see, from some points of the road, a 2nd smaller cascade on an higher place.
Although it can be seen from Caldas do Gerês - Portela de Leonte road, it can also be visited by walking along the Preguiça Trail that leads to the base of waterfall. Here, take special care given the risk of fall. Stay on the path (which ends right by the waterfall) and do not cross the stream, because the rocks may be slippery.
