• It is from the top of the mountain, where the Welcome Center of the Natural Park of Alvão is located, that one has a better view of the granitic chaos of Arnal (Alvão mountain): a unique landscape of bare rock, which contrasts with the green of the valley where the people of the small village of Arnal settled down. The place is known as the "granit Cathedral of Arnal" due to the impressiveness of the landscape.

The presence of a species classified in Portugal as "endangered" - the red-billed chough (Pyrrhocorax pyrrhocorax), which nests in cracks and holes of these granitic outcrops – increases the natural value of this site and justifies its classification as a total protection area.
