Lighthouse Plateau
Share Image
The lighthouse plateau has this name because the lighthouse of the Duke of Bragança is there. Enjoy the view from the top of Berlenga Grande and, in a clear day, you can see Estelas and Farilhões islands.
See the Yellow-legged Gulls (Larus michahellis) who invaded the island (its population has increased over the years thanks to the dumps that existed in the country's coast) and that have destroyed the natural vegetation, such as Armeria of Berlengas (Armeria berlengensis). So wherever you are, do not feed the seagulls. Try to find a Carbonell’s Wall Lizard (Podarcis carbonelli berlenguensis), but don’t step on it and don’t leave the path.
