Share Image
São Luís (St. Louis) of Almádena Fort date from 1632, and served to protect the almadrava, an old fishing gear to capture tuna. This is an interesting military structure built by D. Luís de Sousa, Prado Count, Governor and Captain-General of Algarve’s Kingdom. There are only ruins of the pit, main door, barracks and batteries as well as parts of the old chapel, probably dedicated to St. Louis.
