Islamic monastery-fortress, founded around 1130, the Sufi master Ibn Qasi, brorn in Silves, opposition leader to Almoravids and temporarily allied of the first Portuguese king, Afonso Henriques. Referenced in several Islamic literary sources as a convent of Muslim warrior monks. It still presents parts of several mosques, minaret, oratories and, probably, walls of pray.
