• Tomb of the famous Portuguese writer Ferreira de Castro (1898-1974), born in Salgueiros, Oliveira de Azeméis municipality, emigrated to Brazil, was not yet 12 years old (he returned to Portugal in 1919), where he lived in  ruber plantations and watched the terrible conditions in workers lived. Interested in the human condition, its humanistic concerns are well mirrored in works such as 'A selva' (1930). Translated into several languages, that book, at the time, made him the Portuguese writer more known internationally. Candidate to the Nobel Prize, journalist, director of publications, author of travel books...

    He offered Sintra his assets with over 20,000 letters, tens of journals, manuscripts and numerous other documents.
