In style 'Queen Anne', this chalet was commissioned by Ernesto Biester (1829-1880) a playwright, journalist and entrepreneur of the Theatre D. Maria lI, in Lisbon. The architect was José Luís Monteiro (responsible for the Rossio railway station nave and the expansion of the Eduardo VII park, both in Lisbon). The interior, with frescoes and French stained glass, was decorated by architect and set designer Luigi Manini, who also worked at the Palace of Buçaco and Quinta da Regaleira. Has furniture made by Leandro Braga a known master carver (who also worked for the Ajuda National Palace) and ceramic works by Bordalo Pinheiro.
