PR5 At the rhythm of Vascão waters (b)

Route on the southern part of the Guadiana Valley Nature Park (PNVG). In this route, at junctions, always take the right path. Before or after the journey, is obligatory a visit to Mesquita village. There, according to poetic words, "the winds of modernity still blow light." The history of this village is closely linked to its strategic location, situated near the confluence of Vascão with Guadiana river. With small farmers, shepherds and merchants, this village still has some houses with the characteristic architecture of this region. Do not miss the church of Nossa Senhora das Neves (Our Lady of the Snows). Vascão river is the shelter for several fish species, and passerines are dominant in the area, such as the Sardinian Warbler, Dartford Warbler, Common Starling and Rufous-tailed Scrub-robin.
