Trilho da Águia do Sarilhão
Share Image
Águia do Sarilhão Trail is in Campo de Gerês parish having a strong ethnographic tradition heritage. It is a small route, of cultural and historical interest. It passes by a valley, where a small river (tibeiro de Rodas) runs, between the Ethnographic Museum and the left bank of Vilarinho da Furna reservoir, in the northern border. It passes through rural and ancient villages where, among the narrow streets, you can see the granaries and houses with their crested crosses and usual wooden balconies opened to the “logradouro” - free ground near the houses. From the heritage legacy, we stress distinctively the Roman “Via Nova XVIII” passing through the XXVII, XXVIII and XXIX Roman miles. Set in an important area of the Peneda Gerês National Park, this trail is near from other interest places such as the Sarilhão cliff, Albergaria forest and the communitarian village of Vilarinho das Furnas (submerged by the waters of Vilarinho das Furnas reservoir).
