• Start by visiting the Environmental Interpretation Center of the Montejunto hills. This trail, with ecological, cultural and landscape interest, starts at the campsite following to the barracks entrance, continuing straight ahead to the pine forest where there is a picnic area. Keep on the road and turn right, going down towards the intersection with the statue of Our Lady of Neves, taking, from here, the direction of Torres Vedras. After about 900 meters and on the right, you will find a dirt road and, after 100 meters, look for a small path on the left that leads you off the road. Climb up to the top along this shepherd’s path. If you do not have vertigo and carefully approach the bare rock escarpment on the right side and enjoy a magnificent view on the north side of the hills. Return to the trail, follow it to the west. You will arrive at a dirt road that will allow you to go down the slope. Turn left, SW direction. About 1.3 km later you’ll arrive at Ramada or Cascalheira valley, where you will find a new path that starts at the tight curve defined by the valley. Follow this one, known, at least since the 19th century, as the S way and used by the inhabitants of Cabanas de Torres and Pragança. Well-adjusted to the orography, this path makes easier to climb this steeper part of the trail. At the end of the climb, take the direction to Montejunto television transmitter and look for a path that leads to a curve of the road. From the curve you are near the church of Our Lady of Neves. Visit the Dominican convent, S. João chapel and the ruins next to it. Then go down to the old Friars sidewalk until you find the intersection of the picnic area. Turn right towards the Air Force facilities and head for the starting point next to the campsite.
