Coinciding partially with Porto Furado and Ornal short distance hiking trails, Serra de Montesinho long distance hiking trail has about 50 km long and, as the name implies, it crosses Montesinho mountain range, in a zone where it is possible to see the geological contact between granite and shale. It can be carried out in 2 or, preferably, in 3 days and you can choose the starting point namely Montesinho, France, Cova de Lua, Vilarinho or Soutelo villages. It passes through a very diverse landscape, where you can appreciate extensive areas with heaths, Brooms, Chestnut tree, as well as leafy oak woods interlaced by natural meadows. You can also see examples of popular architecture, such as the traditional dovecotes and Trás-os-Montes village houses. Sabor river valley is quite beautiful and has a very dense riparian vegetation.
