• This small pedestrian route-PR1 AJZ, encloses urban sections within the town of Aljezur and other rural areas, where it is possible to contact natural environments of Sudoeste Alentejano e Costa Vicentina Nature Park. The urban section has a markedly cultural-historical nature, passing in different points of interest, including the Municipal Museum-where you can visit the archeological centers, Islamic, and the Ethnographic Museum of sacred art, the Church of Mercy, the Saint Anthony's Museum, the Museum-House of painter José Cercas and the Castle. Surronding the urban area, in the trail you will find zones of environmental interest, e.g. the riparian gallery of Aljezur's stream (navigable during the Islamic occupation). This is an excellent habitat for amphibians and reptiles like the Mediterranean turtle. Throughout the rural section found typical vegetation of a Mediterranean climate, such as arbutus-tree, gum cistus, french lavender and Rosemary. This proximity to the watercourse makes this fertile land where one can see the mosaic of agricultural crops: fruits and vegetables, including Aljezur's sweet potato "Batata doce de Aljezur" (European Commission seal: PGI) where no chemicals are used.
