This pole of the Barroso Ecomuseum results from the requalification of the space and infrastructures of Borralha’s mines that for decades were of great economic importance for the county, being the main employment body.

 

The interpretive centre corresponds to Group D, one of the 4 zones of the complex (Couto Mineiro da Borralha) that are being intervened in a phased way. It includes, in addition to reception / exhibition, the showers and a space formerly used as theatre / cinema and even school and that today maintains the function of auditorium and exhibition space.

 

Group D also includes an entrance to the galleries and a vertical entrance that took the miners to a depth of 60 meters (visits not allowed).

 

Next to the interpretive centre, begin Mineiro and Farrista trails, allowing the visitor to know the entire mine’s complex.
