The only example of the industrialization of sericulture in Trás-os-Montes, the Royal Spinning of Chacim, dated from 1788 and classified as a cultural heritage building, was an industrial complex for processing and manufacturing of silk, which is in ruins, and is an important example of the European sericulture industry. This factory have used Italian technology improved since the fourteenth century: the round silk mill.
