The house-studio Carlos Relvas, or "chalet" as it is known in Golegã, was built in the late nineteenth century at the initiative of Carlos Relvas a photography fan. This building has features that make it unique worldwide. Also unique is the fact that it was built from scratch with the sole purpose of receiving a lab and studio dedicated specifically to the development of a technique which at the time was taking its first steps, providing to its owner a place of excellence for practice and testing new methods of photography.
