Situated in one of the most well preserved villages of the county, the Barroso Ecomuseum in Tourém is located in the rebuilt old "ox court." It serves as the Regions’s Birdlife Interpretive Centre, a mandatory component in such a project, concerned with the preservation and maintenance of the natural heritage and landscape. The museum also includes a small rural shop, selling products of the land, thus contributing to the revitalization of the area and the local economy.

Tread along the three routes that start near the Tourém Branch (Tourém /Coast Route, Bird Route and Contraband Route). Note that Tourém is one of the best PGNP sites for birdwatching in the Peneda-Gerês National Park.
