The Associação de Defesa do Património de Mértola - ADPM (an environmental NGO) owns a agrosilvopastoral farm with about 200 ha, called 'Monte do Vento', classified as Site of Biological Interest. It is located 22 km north of Mértola and 3 km from the Pulo do Lobo Natural Monument, one of the areas with the highest interest for nature conservation of the Guadiana Valley Natural Park. Thanks to this location it has a great diversity of natural, semi-natural and humanized landscapes with natural, cultural and landscape high interest. The 'Monte do Vento' is an experimental and demonstration area, developing studies and projects that promote proper management of natural resources and reconcile nature conservation with sustainable development of the region. It promotes guided tours by appointment to  ADPM with a minimum of 12 participants.

  • Avoid using this infrastructure in the summer season, since this is a region with high temperatures this time of year. The closest village has a small grocery store, but does not have an ATM machine. To access this space or get more information about it you should previously contact the headquarters of ADPM in Mértola. In late may, early June there is the Tea and Herbs of the world Festival.
