• Interpretation and information Centre of the Nature Reserve of Marshland of Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António

  • In Venta Moinhos salt marsh, in the Nature Reserve, the Information and Interpretation Centre of the Nature Reserve of Sapal de Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António - CIIRNSCMVRSA, is a multipurpose building that apart from point of receiving visitors and shop, has an auditorium for 80 people. It also has an exhibition space with an exhibition about the protected area values. It has another area for temporary exhibitions or events. The building function also as an open observatory on the areas of marshland and temporary pond. In the surroundings you can still find a bird observatory, one threshing floor, and a picnic area, complementing the offer of leisure facilities in this protected area.

    - Faro, following the A22 / IP1, exit the Node 18 - Vila Real de Santo António / IC27 Beja, and then follow the directions Beja / Alcoutim / Nature Reserve.*

    - North of Alcoutim, followed by IC27 *

    * At the intersection for Monte Francisco take the first exit left (indication 'Reserva Natural'), continuing by dirt road for 450 m, turn right and pass under the viaduct of the A22, continue for 1.7 km to the Environmental education center of the Nature Reserve of Sapal of Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António.

  • Although the Interpretive Centre of RNSCMVRSA is not open to the public on weekends and holidays, you can always enjoy, any day and at any time, of the exterior spaces and follow the interpreted routes. However, in summer you should take precautions and use insect repellent because mosquitoes appear at dusk.
