• Humberto Delgado Memorial House

  • In the main square of Boquilobo, home village of Humberto da Silva Delgado (1906-1965), is his memorial house, birthplace of the brave military, candidate for president in 1958 and murdered by PIDE in Spain, who became known as " Fearless General." This small museum is dedicated to his political action in defense of democracy and freedom in Portugal.

In 1944, Humberto Delgado was appointed director general of the Civil Aviation Secretariat and, in 1945, founded the Portuguese Air Transport (TAP), creating the first connection airlines with Angola and Mozambique.

With only 47 years he was promoted to general and was graced by several foreign governments, notably with the Order of the British Empire (UK) and the degree of Officer of the Order of Merit (United States).

Became famous his phrase "obviously I’ll dismiss him" given in response to the question if he won the 1958 elections what he would be to Salazar.
