In the building of the former elementary school in São Caetano, is the Museum nucleus of the Portuguese Centre of Geo-History and Prehistory (CPGP). There visitors can enjoy an exhibition on the story of life evolution and physical and technological evolution of human species, consisting of material from paleontological and archaeological collections CPGP.

In the exhibition can be seen fossils of marine invertebrates, with about 480 million years, dinosaurs and other animals his contemporaries, as well as large mammals, there are about 17 million years ago, lived in the Lisbon region. Replicas of skulls of some of our ancestors and artifacts produced by them may also be admired there.

  • Access by car coming from:

    - Golegã (± 6.7 km) – by IC3 (direction Entroncamento) drive ± 4 km until you find on your right a road and signs to S. Caetano/Cardiga;*

    - Entroncamento (± 6.5 km) – by N3 toIC3/N365. Drive ± 1,6 km until you find on your left a road and signs to S. Caetano/Cardiga. Drive ± 2 km to S. Caetano;

    - Torres Novas (± 14.5 km) – by N3 to Entroncamento. See Entroncamento;

    - Lisboa – by A1 and follow to A23 (Torres Novas). Exit to IC3 (Entroncamento centro/ Barquinha). Follow to M572 just to S. Caetano; or

    - Porto - by A1 and follow to A13. Leave to IC3 (Entroncamento centro/ Barquinha) and follow to M572 just to S. Caetano.

    *Follow 2 km by that road just to S. Caetano. Turn right to M572/R. Direita and drive ± 450m, turning then right and then turn on the 1st on your left. The small museum is on your left.
