Roque Gameiro’s Watercolors Museum is the only museum in Portugal devoted entirely to watercolor and specifically to the work of the Portuguese watercolourist reference - Alfredo Roque Gameiro (born in Minde).

In the "House of the Azores", a remarkable example of architecture and gardens from the beginning of the 20^th century, connected to the painter’s family and where echoes the innovative ideas of Raul Lino (great friend of Roque Gameiro), the Arts Center and Crafts Roque Gameiro (CAORG) created a museum thanks to the custodian of a large number of works of its property, those belonging to the artist family or to the Modern Art Centre of Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. The garden was excellently maintained and improved as well as the neo-Moorish romantic turret that rises in the opposite corner of the house.

The museum has only drawings and watercolors, so, for conservation reasons, it has a rotation of exhibits, raising, on the other hand, a renewed interest by the public.

In the work of Roque Gameiro lies an attitude of humility and reverence towards the Creation, showed on the details, the tenderness with which any stone, any tree, any reflection in the water is treated as if identifying with him. It is this attitude, even more profound when the contemplation object is a person, which makes some of his portraits the highlights of Portuguese painting - see, namely "Portrait of his mother".
