In the chestnut trees woods, is this picnic area, between the complex of Real Fábrica do Gelo (Royal Ice Factory) and the Centro de Interpretação Ambiental (Environmental Interpretation Center), has 8 tables, with a capacity of 6 to 8 people each, a small bar, toilets and a playground. Given its location and the fact that it is surrounded by a magnificent forest of chestnut trees, this park is the perfect location for a picnic in the mountains. On weekend, it is filled with visitors resting and enjoying nature while exploring the mountain history.

It hosts several events taking place in the mountains. In its vicinity there is an amphitheater used for meetings and workshops outdoors.

  • By car (from North or South):

    - A1. Exit toward Aveiras / Alcoentre / Azambuja. At the roundabout take the 3rd exit to N366. Cross Alcoentre and continue on N366. At the roundabout take the 3rd exit towards Cercal. In Cercal, at the roundabout, take the 3rd exit - sirection Cadaval. Go straight ahead until you reach Cadaval (N115)*; or

    - A8. Exit toward Bombarral / Cadaval. At the roundabout take the 1st exit - direction Cadaval. Cross Sanguinhal and go straight ahead until you reach Cadaval (N361).*

    *In Cadaval take N115 to Pragança. There take N115-1 to R. Primeiro de Dezembro, direction Arieiro. Pass Arieiro and continue to Lamas.
