Torre de Menagem  was part of the Alcáçova (military and residential structure), where lived the Captain-General and the family, still serving barracks for the garrison.
 
The Reception Centre, next to the Tower, has information and is a starting point for visiting the major sites of cultural interest of the Guarda council. Includes an Exhibition of Archaeological Materials. Visits are 40 to 50 min and held 4 times a day with 15/20 people at a time. Visits for groups are made by previous appointment.
