In Celorico da Beira old area, near the castle, the clock tower and Santa Maria church, stands the Cathedral of Serra da Estrela Cheese - Solar do Queijo (Cheese Manor House). In a seventh century building, former Town Hall, it has in the frontispiece the royal coats of arms and the village ones. In the past it has housed also the courthouse and jail, having been restored and adapted to the functions it has today. Here, visitors / tourists can buy and take home, or simply appreciate, with quality, this famous cheese - symbol of this region, as well as other delicious delicacies, examples of the region rich gastronomy. So, the visitor has the opportunity to know a little more about the main activity of this area. The exhibition of the artifacts used in the manufacture of artisan cheese, takes you to know all the phases need to produce the Serra da Estrela cheese, from the milking to the consumers table.

For groups it organizes also, tasting sessions of Serra da Estrela cheese and other regional products.

    - Vilar Formoso – A25 or Guarda A25/N16 (exit 27). Continue to N16. In the roundabout to Celorico da Beira take the 3rd exit. Go straight ahead to R. dos Bombeiros Voluntários. After 23 meters, turn right (direction Solar do Queijo). Keep forward to the square. The Manor House is on the right.

    - Gouveia – N17 (direction A25/Celorico da Beira). In the roundabout, near exit 26 of A25, take the 3rd exit. Turn right and cross over A25. At the next 3 roundabouts keep forward (N102). At the 4th roundabout take the 3rd exit. Continue on that street, with stone pavement, just to R. dos Bombeiros Voluntários. Turn right and follow the signs Solar do Queijo.
