The Geira Museum is part of the museological centre of Campo de Gerês, together with the Ethnographic Museum of Vilarinho da Furna and the Peneda-Geres National Park Gateway.
It is entirely dedicated to the Antonine Itinerary XVIII, an important Roman military road that connected Bracara Augusta (now Braga) to Asturica Augusta (now Astorga, Spain) through a 215 miles route.
The way it was planned and the stone extraction and road and bridge construction techniques are some of the themes explored in the museum.
The visit to the museum can be complemented with a tour of Geira, beginning at about 2.3 km from the museum to mile XXIX.
