• Emmerico Nunes Cultural Center

  • Housed in an emblematic building of Sines, the old hospital of ‘Misericórdia’  (Mercy), near the Chapel of Mercy and the Mother Church, this Cultural Centre has a gallery with temporary exhibitions in different areas of the visual arts. Works by artists such as Pedro Cabrita Reis, Ilda David, Carlos Nogueira or Paula Rego patents have already been in the center, the main annual event is the project "Summer - Contemporary Art".


    Emmerico Hartwich Nunes (1888-1968) was a designer and Portuguese-German illustrator who has worked exclusively for a German satirical magazine, Munich, and most of the drawings were produced in Portugal, where it came in 1918. In Paris, where he studied, met other famous Portuguese artists such as Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso.

    Access to Sines, from:

    - Lisbon, by the briges 25 de Abril or Vasco da Gama, take direction Algarve (A2 / South highway). In A2, at exit Alcácer do Sal and Grândola, take direction to Sines.

    - Algarve, towards Alentejo Litoral, take N125 and then IP1 to enter South Highway (A2). Exit Alcácer do Sal or Grândola and then take Sines direction.

    - Alentejo, if you prefer the highway, take N114 and then the A6 towards Lisbon, after entering the South Highway (A2) towards Algarve. Exit Alcácer do Sal or Grândola and take Sines direction.

  • Visit Monte do Paio, with the Interpretation Centre, and see the exhibition and watch the movie about the natural and cultural values of the Nature Reserve of Saint André and Sancha’s Lagoons. (RNLSAS).  Enjoy the lagoon landscape and the routes starting at Monte do Paio.

    Very close is Costa de Santo André’s beach, so enjoy or simply stroll on the vast white sands.
