• N. Sra. das Salas Church (Our Lady of 'Salas')

  • Built in the late thirteenth century,  early fourteenth century by 'Dona Vetaça Lescaris', grantee Byzantine princess of Santiago do Cacém, Sines and Panóias. It was rebuilt in the early sixteenth century on the initiative of Vasco da Gama, so this church is an example of Manueline architecture, characteristic of the Age of Discoveries, in southern Portugal. It has a single nave there is the gilded, with the image of Our Lady of Salas, located on the main altar, the maturity of the Lord of the altarpiece, two tombstones with weapons of the Gama family and a panel of tiles related to the life of Mary.

Also has a treasury with jewels and religious ornaments that, over the centuries, were offered to the image of the Virgin.

In August 15 there's a feast in honor of Our Lady of Salas or Salvas (patron saint of Sines fishermen) with processions by sea and land.
