• Intepretation Center of Cresmina Dune

  • In this center, you can know the parabolic dunes corridor of Guincho, driven by the wind, the dunes reach the sea further southeast in the area Oitavos - Guia. Thanks to a path on walkways, so as not to damage the dunes (natural protectors of the coast against erosion), you can take contact with the dunes, plants that are behind it and that form, some endemic (e.g. with limited distribution) as the ‘Raiz-divina’ (Armeria welwitschii) that exists only in some parts of the Portuguese coast, and the animals that live there, from insects, reptiles and birds.

Recovery actions of the local vegetation have been implemented, including the removal of invasive alien species, such as the Hottentot fig (Carpobrotus edulis - from South Africa), and planting natural species of Portugal and of this habitat, such as Marram grass (Ammophila arenaria).
