• Mértola Museum - Miner's House

  • This is the first nuclei of the Museum of São Domingos Mine, where exploration pyrites goes back to the Roman era. It is a contribution to the reconstruction, dignity and memory of this mining village. Regarding so, two different equipment have been associated in this space: the museum's with the Miner's House; and a space with the collection of intangibles, with a documentation center.

The 'Centro de Documentação da Fundação Serrão Martins - CDFSM' (Serrão Martins Foundation Documentation Center) supports scientific, educational or artistic research, through its document collection and especially the knowledge and memories that the elements of the Foundation staff have.

The Miner's House  presents itself as a permanent exhibition illustrating the miners experience, shwing objects, memories, symbols and shortcomings that constituted the day-to-day of these families.
