Recreates a small farm with different types of crops and animals. Uses renewable energy and offers educational activities. The nineteenth century caretaker's house was recovered, and has e.g. a kitchen with bread oven. It also has picnic area, outdoor amphitheater, barn and an irrigation system. In the water line that crosses the Farm are amphibians and aquatic animals.
The project “Quintinha Fora da Rede”, ‘Farm Off the Grid’, as part of BIO+ Sintra project, allowing you to see the electricity production mechanisms from three sources: wind through a wind turbine; Water (hydropower), with a hydro turbine; and sun (solar energy), thanks to a photovoltaic set. Bio+ Sintra aims to raise awareness about the importance of biodiversity, which is closely related to the use of renewable energy and reduction of energy consumption.
