One of the oldest and performing arts in the region is the weaving of woolen blankets. In this workshop, a weavers cooperative ensures the survival of this activity. The decorative motifs of the blankets are inspired on the Berber traditions and are also found in archaeological materials. Here there's an exhibition of ancient instruments linked to the weaving activity of wool and linen, as well as an exhibition of cloths manufactured here and also in serrano villages of the county.

  • Gratuito até aos 12 anos (inclusive) e naturais e residentes no concelho de Mértola. Bilhete geral (acesso a todos os núcleos) - 5€. Bilhete de núcleo - 2€. Estudantes e maiores de 65 anos - 50% de desconto.

  • Tuesday to Sunday: 9:15 am - 1 pm and 2 pm - 5:45 pm.

  • Avoid the warmer months or seek shelter during the hottest hours. Wear comfortable shoes since the sidewalk of the historic center is very irregular.

    Ask the Mértola tourist office map with the location of several museums in the historic center. Guided tours must be booked at the tour desk with a minimum of one week. The tour runs several museums.
