Base Characterization
-
The peninsula of Peniche shows a succession of stratified limestone rocks, where it is possible to follow a continuous history of more than 20 million years since the early Jurassic (about 190 million years ago). A story printed in rocks by fossils of marine invertebrates (ammonites, crinoids, belemnites, bivalves and brachiopods), when the dinosaurs already populated continental areas and the Iberian Peninsula was near the american continent.
