  • Access to Barca d'Alva coming from:

    - North - N221 or N325, road to the bridge Alm. Sarmento Rodrigues;

    - South - N221; or

    - Spain – CL-517 and N221.

     

    In Barca d'Alva, on the riverbanks:

    - north - a few meters from the bridge over the Douro river; and

    - south (GPS: 41.027515, -6.939463) - on the pedestrian path next to the river, which runs towards Spain

  • One of the rare areas in the Douro Valley with fluvial terraces, which can be seen here on both sides.

     

    A fluvial terrace (alluvial or stream terrace) is a deposit of sediments, generally with cobblestones, conserved in the margins of a river or stream, resulting from the fact that, in the past, that river had run at a higher level.
