Here you can see a landscape where the erosion caused by the glaciers left its mark, containing one of the most important area with erratic blocks of Estrela Mountain, and it is also possible to observe polishes and streaks, indicative of the direction of the glacier's displacement and Sheepback rocks. See also several blocks with fractures caused by ice.
Lagoa Comprida is a lagoon of glacial origin about 1 km long, the largest of the lagoons on this mountain. There was built a dam for the production of electricity. It has a height of 28 m and a storage capacity of about 12,000,000 m3, flooding an area of 800,000 m2.
Nearby there is the old quarry used for the construction of the dam, where you can see the effects of chemical erosion on granite that presents large crystals (porphyritic).
Try to see some Great Cormorants (Phalacrocorax carbo), but be careful, because, on very windy days, you risk getting wet due to the waves. In the vicinity begins a pedestrian route.
Glacier - mass of ice formed by the recrystallization of snow that flows forward, or has flowed at some time in the past.
Sheepback rock, glaciated knob or mammillated rock - rounded, glacially eroded rock outcrop, usually one of a group, resembling a sheep's back.
