  • The Rufous-tailed Rock-thrush is a passerine bird with a robust body, long beak and relatively short and red tail. The male exhibits, during the mating season, a blue head, throat and back, with a characteristic white spot on its back and a red ventral surface. The female and young individuals have a brown colouration with a spotted pattern. It can measure up to 20 cm long.

  • The Portuguese population of this species is estimated to be between 300 and 500 couples.
