  • The Little Owl is a small nocturnal bird of prey, with a plump appearance, large and round head, yellow eyes and short tail. It exhibits a brown plumage with white dots on its dorsal surface and white with brown stripes on the ventral surface. The young have a more tenuous tone. It can measure up to 27 cm long.

  • The Little Owl frequents open areas (such as pastures, fallow land, holm-oak and olive groves) which it uses as hunting grounds, close to natural or artificial cavities where it can nest. It can be seen perching on high points.
